Bachelorette Party Ideas for the Outdoorsy Bride - The Complete Adventure Guide
If you are looking to ditch the traditional bachelorette party, and go for a more down-to-earth (literally) party, then this post is for you! We rounded up our favorite outdoor locations, activities, and gifts for even the most adventurous bridal party. So, whether you’re totally granola, or just want to get away from the city, check out these non-traditional outdoor bachelorette party ideas.
Table of Contents:
Bachelorette Party Activities for the Outdoorsy Bride
1. Float the River
Get out on the water with your wedding party and have some fun! Tubing is a great way to tan before the wedding, and it’s a great group activity that will be sure to make some memories. Add some extra spice by going out in matching bathing suits, getting some fun bucket hats, and/or making a playlist for the river.
What to do:
Make a floating playlist, “Beer the bride” sign (if drinking is permitted on the river)
“Anything but tubes” (find something to float down the river on that isn’t a tube — an air mattress, a kayak, a kiddie pool, etc.)
2. Rent a Cabin
Get a cozy cabin with your girls in the mountains. This can be the home base for any other activities you do during the weekend. If you still want to have a city experience, try finding a place within an hour’s drive of a winery or small college town, and get the best of both worlds! The best part is you can bring your own food to save money, and still splurge on some of the other activities we listed below!
What to do: Hiking / snowshoeing, s’mores, DIY spa day, obstacle course, water balloons, lawn games, board game tournament
3. Snorkeling
Take a guided tour of a coral reef, or just rent some gear and head out with your party. Maybe you’ll find some sea turtles, dolphins, or even sharks! Afterwards, treat yourself to some seafood tacos, or mai tais on the beach! Want to go the extra mile? Gift everyone a personalized “sun kit” that includes coral-safe sun screen, hair ties, temporary tattoos, and/or a bracelet
4. Hot Springs
Hot springs are a perfect way to end a hike, or just take a soak. Choose between a man-made or natural hot springs, and kick back with your bridal party. Bring along a picnic with charcuterie and drinks, and toast to the bride-to-be! Check if there’s any hot springs local to your area, or check out some of our favorites!
Our Favorite Hot Springs:
5. Hiking
Take to the trails with your bridal party and do one of your favorite hikes! Or, head out to a new location and spend the day in the woods with your friends. This is a great way to start the morning before heading back to your camp or cabin, plus it’s a free activity! You can gift everyone an enamel mug for their morning coffee, or a Hydroflask for the trail! We listed some of our favorite location-based hikes down below!
6. Paintball
If you’re not worried about the welts from the paintballs, take your squad to a paintball course for some bachelorette fun! As an added element, head to a thrift store beforehand, grab some wedding attire, and wear it for the paintball course. It’s like taking trash the dress to the next level.
What to do: “trash the dress” — thrift clothing and wear it to the paintball course!
7. Rent a Treehouse
You’re never going to want to leave one of these beautiful treehouses! Similar to glamping, you can have the outdoor experience of hiking and roughing it during the day, and then come back to a cozy and unique stay. Or, you can spend the entire bachelorette weekend hamocking and relaxing.
8. Bike Tour
Rent some bikes and enjoy a scenic bike trail with your crew. There’s some incredible options nearby national parks, as well as converted train tracks, and e-bike courses. Check out Rails to Trails for some amazing train-tracks-to-trails scenic bikeways.
9. Axe Throwing
Take your group to an axe throwing pub! These locations are popping up everywhere, and feature stalls of targets where you can throw axes and drink beer (or cider) to your heart’s content. It’s great for those competitive bachelorettes looking to take out some pre-wedding stress. Look up “axe throwing near me”, to find a local place to go!
10. Horseback Riding
Every horse girl has always wanted to take all of her friends horseback riding. There’s so many incredible trails for horseback riding, and you have your pick of scenery — the beach, the mountains, or even a dude ranch! This is perfect for the brides who want a more laidback “Nashlorette”. You can even gift you guests some boots, or cowboy hats.
11. Boho Backyard Campout
Setup your own campout under the stars in your backyard with beautiful pillows for seats, canvas tents, and cafe lights. This is perfect for a low-key day, and you can still do all the camping activities you would normally do like roast s’mores and go for a swim or hike. As an added treat, hire a personal chef to come cook for you, or order a custom charcuterie board for an outdoor picnic. Nowadays, there are even companies like I Propose a Picnic who will setup and tear down the experience for you!
12. Off-Road ATV
Spend the day speeding around in an ATV with your besties! Explore the red rocks of Moab, or take a guided tour near Bryce Canyon. This is great for those days that it’s a little too hot to hike! End the day of adventure with a BBQ back at your AirBnB, or head out on the town!
13. Archery
Get competitive with your girls and head to an archery range. This is a step up from Top Golf, and will test your strength and aim. If this is your first time, you can even take a class before heading out to shoot at the targets!
14. Glamping
Even hardcore backpackers should enjoy a luxury camping experience once in their lives, and what better time than for your bachelorette! There are so many incredible options for glamping nowadays — from custom designed yurts, to one-of-a-kind teepees — and everything in between. We recommend glamping near a national park, where you can spend the day hiking, and then head back and make dinner and play games. The best part is, after a long day you get to sleep in a real bed! We listed some of our favorite glamp-sites in the location section.
15. Yoga Retreat
For a chill bachelorette, head to a yoga retreat, or hire a yoga instructor to start your morning off right. We love the idea of hanging out in a Joshua Tree AirBnB with your best friends, and doing yoga on the patio. Gift everyone a yoga mat, or some robes to wear while lounging around the AirBnB.
16. Rafting
Take tubing up a notch and head on a guided rafting tour. You can find all sorts of options, from slow and narrow winding slot canyons, to white water tours. We recommend going through an experienced company, and then going out to dinner or drinks afterwards. Don’t forget to layer on the sunscreen!
Our Favorite Place to Raft:
17. Tie Dye
Instead of buying everyone matching t-shirts, have them make their own! Start the weekend off with a tie dye station — you can dye anything from hats, to socks, to tank tops or shirts! After they dry, wear them on your day out! Grab a tie dye kit, and choose some blank canvases — we think tie dye crop tops or bucket hats would be super cute! (This is also a great way to give old clothing a new life!)
18. Boating
Rent a boat, or make friends with someone who has a boat, and take it out on the lake. The options are endless — go tubing, take it pontooning, wake surf, or just go for a little cruise. This is another great opportunity for matching swimsuits, and don’t forget to get the bride a captain’s hat!
19. Snow Mobile / Snow Shoe / Cross Country Ski
If you’re having your bachelorette in the colder months, rent some snow shoes, cross country skis, and/or a couple snow mobiles, and explore the areas outside of your cabin. This is a great way to get outside when it’s cold, and you can still see some of the views that you would be able to see in the summer.
20. Paddle Boarding / Jetski
Rent some paddle boards and a jetski or two, and take turns riding out on the lake. As an added bonus, check to see if your AirBnB or rental includes paddle boards.
